Stephen W. Bates

Steve has worked at Essex Financial since 2008, following over 20 years of experience in the private wealth management business. Steve works with both wealthy individual clients as well as a number of local not-for-profit organizations. His work with individual clients focuses on ensuring that each client’s investment, income and wealth transfer objectives are effectively integrated into a comprehensive wealth management program. He has extensive experience helping not-for-profits structure investment programs that best meet each organization’s unique needs and objectives, and previously served as Chairman of the Finance and Investment Committee of a $20 million foundation.

Steve received a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School. His is active in alumni affairs having served on the Dartmouth Alumni Council and as Chair of Tuck Annual Giving.

He and his wife Susan reside in Old Lyme.
